MyMusingsSangSpeak -Mobile Mania

What a revolution the mobiles have brought about!!!!!!!!!!!
You can see every other person stuck to his/her mobile. So much dependency on that small little contraption!! I am one person who is quite technophobic and takes to technological advancements quite slowly. Of course, mobiles are the best way to keep in touch at all times in today’s fast paced world, when so many things are taking place simultaneously at jet speed. But, this does seem to get on your nerves at times. People around you may be sitting next to you, but, are constantly on their mobiles either talking or smsing to others. You feel so disconnected and it is so very funny to see those silly smiles pasted on faces around you which are not meant for you. You go out on the road and you will see people violating the traffic rules, caring two hoots for anybody’s safety, including their own. All this is thanks to the mobile mania. The two wheeler drivers will manoeuvre their vehicles dangerously just to talk on the mobile. It is so comical to see their necks ducking sideways as if they have some sort of disability. The four wheelers also swerve precariously if the driver does not have a hands free device.

And, in the buses, you can hear the people shouting loudly on top of their voices, just to get their message across while talking on the mobile. If you are a movie buff, then be prepared to be disturbed by unwanted disruptions with the fellow viewers’ mobiles. I have seen my child also getting so addicted to the mobile. It seems as if the mobile is the heart that exists out of the body. The mobile goes with you wherever you go. Sometimes, I wonder as to if we are getting more connected or more distanced with the mobiles. All the lines going criss cross but no direct connections. I like to observe the mannerisms in which each one handles his/her mobile. Some talk softly, some shout, some smile, some laugh, some fight and then cry and it is actually real fun to see all of it. Each one to his own, what more can I say???????????

Great write-up aunty... you seemed to have made a really intricate observation of people. The whole thing had such a nice flow and phrase connection that it just pulls you into the next sentence.. and now i know how radhika got those intense observational skills.

i think you made a great point when you highlighted the irony that a mobile actually serves to disconnect rather than connect.

People who are hooked onto the contraption tend to inhabit a world of their own, totally oblivious of everything that happens around them.

Sadly mobiles have sort of become a necessary evil in this age where people are stretched thin for time. And more often it’s the etiquettes that hurt rather than the basic act of using the mobile.

Some people seems to have this weird notion that everyone in a 200 meter radius should be made to hear their mono conversations. I guess like everything else in this world, they have both angelic and devilish aspects to them, and the choice is ours to make.
